Now that the Destiny 2 Console Beta has finished here are my thoughts on the beta and what we got to experience.
Destiny 2 Teaser Trailer and Worldwide reveal March 30th! Destiny 2 will have timed exclusive content on PlayStation 4 for a year.
As of the Destiny Update 1.1.2, Bungie added a Jukebox in Destiny located in the Tower and it has an audio Easter egg, a Siege of Madrigal Remix!
Just head to the hangar side and down these stairs to the bar. When you activate it, it plays a random 20 second song. There appears to be 9 different songs, including Hope For The Future by Paul McCartney, a rock remix of Destiny’s Cabal theme soundtrack, a banjo remix of the Destiny theme, and a Siege of Madrigal Remix!
Bungie used Siege of Madrigal in the game Myth and it has since appeared as Easter Eggs in ever Halo game made by Bungie – Halo CE, Halo CE Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo Reach. These Easter eggs also appeared in their respective locations in the Master Chief Collection with achievements!
And now you can add Destiny to the list – I’m just surprised it took them this long to decide to add it into their game, since it’s been in every Bungie game since Myth.
Bungie officially confirmed in their weekly update that they will indeed wipe the Destiny servers, effectively eliminating all of your Guardians and any loot you may have stored in the vaults. Therefore your characters and gear from the Beta will not transfer over to the final version of the game come September 9th.
Tyson Green, a designer at Bungie gives us some reasoning and explains that
“Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.”
Bungie has assured us that this will be the last time you’ll have to say good-bye to your Guardian. On September 9th you’ll create a Guardian and (hopefully) a long lasting friendship.
Who said Warlocks aren’t frabjous enough?
This news was expected but nevertheless a little painful, especially since many Guardians reached the Beta level cap fairly quickly and began hording weapons and gear beyond that level in the vaults hoping to see them again. However Bungie has told us yet again that we have only just scratched the surface with the Beta and “there is so much left to do – much left to earn and master”.
It’s time to look beyond the horizon and imagine the frabjous gear and weapons that await us.
Bungie’s Beta for Destiny was simply put, amazing, and the stats rightfully show! 6.5 million Guardians were created and “at its peak, the Destiny Beta became the most simultaneously played Bungie game of all time. There were more people online at the same time to play Destiny than any other game in our history. The Beta was more played than even final versions of previous Bungie games.” That number of concurrent players was over 850,000.
If you participated in the Destiny Beta at any time, you’ll have earned this exclusive emblem for the retail release of Destiny
If you specifically played the Destiny Beta on July 26th to help Bungie with their stress test of the Beta, you’ll have also earned this exclusive emblem for the trail release of Destiny.
Here are the stats for the Destiny Beta!

Round up of Halo news/rumors with a little Destiny. Halo TV Series by Spielberg deal with Showtime, Destiny Beta announced for July, Halo 5 Open World Rumors, and Halo Mash-Up pack for Minecraft announced.
The latest Destiny news and rumors reveal that the beta for Destiny is right around the corner and scheduled to open in July. As you may know, Bungie has been teasing gamers and plans on announcing more details about the beta at this years E3 (the game is also going to be playable there).
UPDATE: Bungie has confirmed the Beta for July
Many fans are predicting a July 7th release as Bungie is obsessed with the Number 7 (7/7/2014). The image below comes from an Activision Financial Q&A presentation. Source here.
This information has yet to be confirmed but Gameinformer is reporting that
“Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg says that the game is on track for release on September 9 and may set a record for the largest numbers of pre-orders for a new IP. Players will get access to the public beta in July.”
We well just have to wait till E3 for now to get the official details. Unless Bungie decides to follow the recently popular trend of early acknowledgments and confirmations because of leaks (Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, etc… have all exercised this recently).
It is still unknown how much earlier Playstation (PS3 and PS4) users will be able to play the beta.
Gamestop/EB Games have confirmed an exclusive pre-order bonus for Bungie’s upcoming game Destiny. A Sparrow is a personal vehicle that players can summon on the fly. With this pre-order bonus you’ll get access to an upgraded version right from the start, but these upgrades can be attained through normal gameplay, however the red paint job is exclusive to those who pre-order at Gamestop and EB Games locations.
