Halo Wars 2 DLC Leader Reveal – Pax East 2017

UPDATE (3/15): Kinsano, Ranked Playlists/Leaderboards, & Patch (including damage nerf for Ander’s Sentinel units) have been delayed till at least next week, March 20-24th. – Brian Jarrard, Halo Community Manager on reddit

During 343 Industries panel at Pax East, Halo Wars 2: Creating the Story, Art, and content yet to come, they revealed the first DLC leader for Halo Wars 2 – Morgan Kinsano, a UNSC Hellbringer leader. Kinsano is the first of many leaders on their way to the game through 343 Industries and Creative Assembly’s post-launch schedule. Together, they’re aiming to add DLC content every 3rd Wednesday of every month, for at least 6 months. This content is only available through the game’s $30 season pass which was also bundled with the Ultimate Edition of the game. Halo community manager, Brian Jarrard, did mention during the panel that people will be able to buy the DLC à la carte – however there is currently no information or pricing information for the DLC at this time. Kinsano and new campaign missions will be released sometime during the week of March 13th (date TBA).

Halo Wars 2’s DLC will include new leaders with new abilities, new units for multiplayer, new Blitz cards, and new campaign missions that expand upon the Halo Wars 2 story. According to Halo Waypoint, the new campaign missions will be part of something called “Operation: Spearbreaker”, which I’m sure we will learn more about as we get closer to Kinsano’s release next week.

Kinsano is a UNSC Hellbringer Leader that focuses on speed, unit buffs, AOE and DOT abilities, and fire… lots of fire. 343 Industries announced during the panel that they have plenty of leaders coming to Halo Wars 2 including some fan favorites and some “a little bit silly”. Since the multiplayer experience does not take place in official canonical space, they have the freedom to have leaders like Sergeant Forge in the game.

Kinsano’s exclusive Blitz units and abilities:

 Unit/Ability  Energy  Unit Type
Flame Warthog  50  Vehicle – Core Vehicle
Helldrop (Ability)  60  Power – Deploy
 Veteran Hellbringers  70  Infantry – Anti-Infantry
Hellcharge (Ability)  80  Power – Utility
Veteran Flame ‘Hog  100  Vehicle – Core Vehicle
Napalm Missiles (Ability)  100  Power – Damage
Inferno (Ability)  180  Power – Damage
 Kinsano’s Cyclops  240  Vehicle – Hero

At the panel 343 Industries brought along some multiplayer gameplay footage using the new leader to showcase the new units and leader abilities. You can watch it here.

Halo 6 News – Split-Screen and Black Undersuits!

Halo 6 News! Halo 6 will have Split-Screen and Black Undersuits!

At yesterday’s DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Bonnie Ross took to the stage to talk about world building. During her speech she talked about some of the lessons learned when they took the helm of the Halo franchise.

One of the painful lessons, aside from Halo MCC’s multiplayer and launch woes, was the decision to remove split-screen for Halo 5. Since then the community has been vocal and Bonnie Ross announced that all future Halo FPS titles will have split-screen. Expect Halo 6, or whatever the next FPS title is to be called, to launch around fall 2018. Keep your eyes out this E3 in June as many expect a teaser… or maybe something along the lines of Anniversary like treatment (*cough* Halo 3 *cough*)

To coincide with this announcement, Halo community manager Ske7ch took to Waypoint and reiterated the news Bonnie Ross had said earlier in the day, and he contributed his confirmation that “black undersuits” would be accounted for moving forward.

For those unaware, black undersuits have been in high-demand ever since 343 Industries replaced them with coloured undersuits on our Spartans. Many fans share their distaste and often find it harder to distinguish the many armour variants easily when the under suits match the colour of the armour above. It’s a minor thing, but a wildly hot topic among the passionate Halo fans.
